Do You Remember

Do you remember
Long nights & short days
When memories evaporated
In a glorious haze

Heads stuffed with dreams
Bodies infused with energy
Living without fear
Feeling so free

Listening to music
Following fashion
Every endeavour
Undertaken with passion

No time to sleep
Or labour under worries
Dancing and romancing
Post midnight curries

Meeting your mates
For a couple of jars
Falling for strangers
In smoky bars

Combining loud shirts
With flared pants
Jumping up and down
To Adam & the Ants

Slow last dances
With French kissing
The youth of today
Don’t know what they’re missing

Hedonistic times
That couldn’t last
Cherished remnants
Of a glorious past

There was no why
Only how
It felt like forever
But look at us now

The last survivors
Of the nightclub generation
Now glued to phones
Eying some youtube sensation

Now we’re older
Tired and lazy
Remembering fondly
Days of beautiful crazy

Greatly missed
Sadly gone
But we lived & loved
Every last one

A Bed & Sofa

With a bed and sofa
We’ll be ok
A sanctuary
Where we can stay

Cosy lie ins
And long hot showers
In a modest dwelling
We proudly call ours

I don’t lust after luxury
Or need state of the art
Just a home
That houses your heart

A blank canvas
To decorate together
Humble beginnings
For our forever

The moment we
Get the keys
We’ll start filling the rooms
With memories

Party With Prince

In the heart of Minneapolis
When it gets dark
Purple rain falls
On Paisley Park

A bigger musical icon
Hasn’t graced our presence since
I wish I’d got the chance
To party with Prince

No fewer than 27 instruments
This legend could play
Creating musical gems
Such as raspberry beret

His spellbinding guitar skills
Were true to form
When he lit up the Superbowl
During a thunderstorm

He taught the world to go crazy
And party like its 1999
Briefly changing his name
In protest to a sign

Among his writing credits
Nothing compares to U
He never got complacent
Always striving for something new

He remained humble
Until his dying day
Destine to burn out
Rather than fade away

The planet he decorated
Seems a little darker since
In a world awash with royalty
There will only ever be one Prince

It Will Be….For All Eternity Another star burns out Across a midnight sky But there’s one thing in life That can never die   A...
