It Will Be….For All Eternity

Another star burns out

Across a midnight sky

But there’s one thing in life

That can never die

An invisible force

Infiltrating our hearts

A beautiful place

Where goodness starts

It has no tolerance for hate

Or appetite for deceit

A burgeoning spirit

No army can defeat

No amount of money can buy it

Although many have tried

So wonderful to give

It comes from inside

Without it life’s hollow

And laden with misery

It’s all we’ll ever need

The best we can be

Surrounded by sadness

In your darkest hour

Put your fate in its hands

And feel the power

In a consumable world

Only love can survive

The only reason

For staying alive

Love is the answer

It always will be

The only constant

For all eternity

A Nightmare Disguised As a Daydream

Those blood red lips

Thick black hair

Mustn’t succumb to temptation

But I’m already there

You’re playing with my heart

Loose and fast

Embroiled in a love story

That can not last

I can’t do anything

But surrender to your eyes

Totally entranced

By the devil in disguise

My exposed emotions

You chop and dice

It’s a living hell

Dressed up as paradise

Release me from your spell

I’m so desperate to live

I’ve bestowed on you my soul

There’s nothing left to give

There were beautiful moments

Played out in the sunshine

It felt like forever

But you’ll never be mine

The dreams I harboured

Descended to dust

But life moves on

As it must

A fragment of time

That should have been ours

You promised me rainbows

But delivered showers

 I Miss Your Roast Dinners

In the game of love

Neither of us came out as winners

I don’t long for those days

But I miss your roast dinners

We often argued

Sometimes lied

But your roast potatoes

Were extra crispy & soft inside

All our dreams

Ended in the trash

But I often think

About your creamy mash

Our strained relationship

Was little more than a sham

But I never stopped loving

Your minted roast lamb

Our time together

Wasn’t a stroll in the park

But we had your gravy

So rich and dark

Divorce is messy

There are no winners

If only I’d got custody

Of your roast dinners
